Reimagining The La Costa Lifestyle
How Rodrigo Vargas Design brought a modern edge to the Old Hollywood glamour of Omni La Costa.
Once a favorite of Sinatra and his Rat Pack, Omni La Costa is truly the grand dame of California retreats. Its distinctive combination of glamour and leisure is often imitated but never quite replicated. Neither are its 400 sprawling acres, its championship-worthy golf course, or its destination spa.

With such a storied past, the resort could easily find itself frozen in time. Instead, it’s looking to the future. On the cusp of its 60th anniversary, Omni Design Studio and Rodrigo Vargas Design have collaborated on a multi-million-dollar renovation. Infusing the Omni’s signature Spanish architecture with an airy modern aesthetic, it gives new meaning to the phrase “the La Costa lifestyle.”

The guest rooms are at once intentional and effortless. Soft textures and a neutral palette pair with hand-painted tiles and wrought ironwork. With its precise angles and hand-assembled linchpin joints, the Invari® Bath Collection complements the aesthetic. And a Brizo® shower head—the standard for all Omni properties worldwide—ensures that the shower experience is as comfortable as it is exquisite.

Emily Mueller, Strategic Account Manager for Brizo Hospitality, says this choice required careful consideration: “Ultimately, the design team chose our Essential™ Shower Series Shower Head for its performance and quality. It has a substantial feel and a finish that coordinates beautifully with the surrounding fixtures, making it a natural fit for the resort.”

The same careful consideration went into the guest experience, with particular emphasis on suites. In the Presidential Suite, visitors will find floor-to-ceiling windows, a spacious two-bedroom layout, and the showstopping Frank Lloyd Wright® Bath Collection Raincan Shower Head with integrated hydropowered lighting. No effort has been spared, nor has any detail been overlooked.
