FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I get a particular faucet in a different finish from what is available at the showroom?
What are the various finishes that are available for Brizo products?
The finishes available vary from product to product, so not all products are available in all finishes. The Product Catalog section of our website will allow you to select a product, see what finishes are available for that product, and actually view the product in each of those finishes. Other than chrome, each finish has a two-letter suffix in the faucet model number. A summary of finishes and their two-letter suffix is below:
Brilliance® Stainless - SS - A brushed finish with a stainless steel appearance. This is produced using Delta's Brilliance finishing process, making it an extremely durable finish that won't corrode, tarnish or discolor.
Brilliance® Brass - BB - A shiny, polished brass appearance. This is produced using Brizo's Brilliance finishing process, making it an extremely durable finish that won't corrode, tarnish or discolor.
Brilliance® Brushed Bronze - BZ - A warm bronze produced using Brizo's Brilliance finishing process making it an extremely durable finish that won't corrode, tarnish or discolor.
Brilliance® Brushed Nickel - BN - A brushed finish with a nickel coloring. This is produced using Brizo's Brilliance finishing process, making it an extremely durable finish that won't corrode, tarnish or discolor.
Brilliance® Polished Nickel - NN - A dull or matte nickel appearance finish. This is produced using Brizo's Brilliance finishing process, making it an extremely durable finish that won't corrode, tarnish or discolor.
Brilliance® Polished Nickel - PN - A warm slightly darker, richer finish than chrome. This is produced using Brizo's Brilliance finishing process, making it an extremely durable finish that won't corrode, tarnish or discolor.
Chrome - PC - A shiny, polished chrome appearance.
Venetian Bronze - RB - Venetian Bronze is a powder coated finish. It is dark bronze in color with a muted brushed finish. Venetian Bronze is similar to Rubbed Bronze found in hardware items.
Gloss Black - GB - Glossy Black is a glossy black powder coated finish.
White - WH - White powder coated finish.
What is a Brilliance® finish?
If your faucet has a Polished Brass, Pearl Nickel or Stainless finish, you have a Brilliance® finish. Developed with a patented process using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), Brilliance® molecules are embedded deep into the faucet's surface, creating a bond that is virtually indestructible. Some Brizo® faucets have a split finish, which includes two finishes, usually chrome and one of the above Brilliance® finishes.
What makes a Brilliance® finish unique?
Brizo's Brilliance® finishes are more durable than traditional clear coating. These beautiful finishes, which give your home an instant decorator look, won't corrode, tarnish or discolor. They are designed to look like new for life. The finish was tested against more than 100 common household cleaners. Brilliance® will even withstand prolonged exposure to hard water or sea air.
Why do I have pin holes in my spout?
Pin holes in a Brizo® faucet spout are rare occurrences, but when they appear they are usually caused by "dezincification," which is the removal of zinc from the brass due to salt solutions, brackish water, mildly acidic solutions and poorly grounded plumbing systems. When the zinc is removed, the copper is redeposited to these areas and the surface of the part. The redeposited copper is a weak mass that is porous and fragile.
If this has happened, you will need to replace the spout. To determine the spout part number for your faucet model, contact your plumber or showroom, e-mail us for quick assistance or call 1-877-345-BRIZO (2749).
Why is my Polished Brass tarnishing or peeling?
Traditional Polished Brass finishes were coated with a clear coating to inhibit tarnish. Over time, this clear coat can be broken or scratched with regular wear and tear, abuse or chemical attack, causing the finish to tarnish or the coating to peel. Unfortunately, it's not possible to repair the clear coat so you will need to replace any parts of your faucet that are tarnished or badly scratched.
Why is the finish deteriorating on my faucet's spout, handles and aerator?
Normally, finish deterioration is due to years of wear and tear, abuse or chemical attack. There is no repair once the finish is damaged, however you can replace many of common faucet parts where the finish deterioration is most noticeable.
To determine the parts you need, contact your plumber or showroom. You can e-mail us for assistance, or call 1-877-345-BRIZO (2749).
Why is the paint/chrome peeling off my faucet?
Most finish problems are caused by caustic or harmful cleaners. Although your faucet's non-Brilliance finish is extremely durable, it can be damaged by harsh cleaning agents. Use only nonabrasive cleaners. Harsh cleaners or abrasives can scratch some faucet finishes. We recommend you wash the faucet with a soft cloth and blot it dry with a clean, dry soft cloth. To remove hard water deposits and soap scum, use a 50/50 mix of vinegar or liquid Lysol® and water.
