COMMUNITY
In support of Delta Faucet Company's efforts, Brizo is also firmly committed to participating in, and supporting, a variety of community-based organizations, including the following:
Decorators' Show House and Garden Walk - Brizo is proud to be a gold sponsor of the 2007 Decorators' Show House and Garden Walk—an annual event sponsored by St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild in the Company's hometown of Indianapolis. A volunteer organization dedicated to raising funds for Wishard Health Services, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year. This Indianapolis tradition—which takes place April 28 through May 13—showcases the work of 40 local interior and landscape designers who each decorate a room or garden in the home. Designers for the kitchen and bath areas were able to choose faucets, accessories and related products from both the Delta and Brizo brands—all of which are donated for use in the home. Since the Decorators' Show House and Garden Walk event debuted 46 years ago, it has raised more than $9 million for Wishard Health Services whose mission is to advocate, care, teach and serve, with special emphasis on the vulnerable populations of Marion County, Indiana.
Brizo teamed with the Indiana Industrial Operators Association, Inc. (IIOA) to distribute T-shirts to children during the Earth Day Indiana Festival in April 2005. Children were also able to learn about the importance of water quality from Delta employees and IIOA representatives while decorating shirts with the water cycle. This program was part of a full day of festivities including music, food and other activities highlighting the importance of preserving the environment.
The IIOA is an association of industrial wastewater operators primarily located in the State of Indiana. Its mission is to provide technical education to its members and general education to the public through Community Outreach projects like participation at the Earth Day Indiana Festival.
United Way - In 2004, Delta associates opened their hearts and wallets to exceed the 2003 fundraising goal of $62,000. Employees in Indianapolis contributed a total of $65,188 to the United Way. These two well-known community support groups donate time, money and effort to a wide variety of non-profit groups, from Boy Scout troops to education and job programs and disaster relief. Delta's facilities in Indianapolis and Greensburg, Indiana; Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Jackson, Tennessee have long been involved in the annual campaigns for both organizations. The Greensburg plant has been working with the local United Fund since 1960, the first year the plant was fully operational. In addition to payroll pledges, Delta employees hold bake sales, silent auctions, basketball tournaments and other fun activities to raise money. The October 2004 campaign will bring out the best in Delta employees once again, as they dedicate their time and money to help the United Way.
Habitat for Humanity - 2005 marked the tenth year Delta has helped Habitat make the dream of home ownership come true for those who might otherwise never have a place of their own. Recipients of Habitat homes must not only be employed and able to make payments, they have to put in "sweat equity" by helping build the house they receive. 2005 also marked the sixth year Delta employees will volunteer to help a family construct their dream home. The company donates all the faucets and showers used in Indianapolis Habitat homes as well as many other communities around the country. Since 1976, Habitat has built and remodeled more than 125,000 homes worldwide for low-income families.
Other community programs Delta and Brizo support include the Pathway Family Center and Indiana Black Expo. Pathway is a fully accredited, licensed facility for the treatment of teen substance abuse. The program focuses on prevention, early intervention, treatment and family counseling. Delta is also a corporate partner of Indiana Black Expo. IBE was founded in 1970 to be an effective voice and vehicle for the social and economic advancement of African Americans.
